Here is a picture of last week’s and this week’s Remarkable Rebels: These student were recognized by a teacher or staff member for going above and beyond to make GSMS a great place to learn and grow.

After starting the morning at Meadowview Elementary, Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares and special guests continued their visit at Glade Spring Middle School!

There, they met with students to share the importance of the National Child Identification Program I.D. Kit — a tool designed to help families keep their children safe.

We are grateful to AG Miyares, Former Governor George Allen, Delegate Israel O’Quinn, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, and our community partners for taking the time to empower and educate our students.

Together, we’re working to keep kids safe both online and in our community.

Students in Ms. Cannon’s Science class are using a triple beam balance to measure mass.

At this time, all GSMS football games will now have a kickoff time of 6:00PM.

Meet the Rebels: An Inspiring Visit

Glade Spring Middle School athletes and their families got a special treat at this year's Meet the Rebels event -- hearing from UVA graduate and baseball star Tyler Cannon.

Tyler shared an inspirational message about hard work, perseverance, and chasing your dreams -- lessons that reach far beyond the playing field.

A big thank-you to Tyler for encouraging GSMS students to give their best both in athletics and in life!

Kickoff to Connection

The Washington County Public Schools Parent Resource Center is hosting its very first event—Kickoff to Connection!

*Time: 4:00–6:00 p.m.

This resource fair is designed to support and empower families of students with disabilities. You’ll have the chance to meet community partners, each hosting a table with valuable information, resources, and support for your family.

It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with local organizations offering a wide range of services—come join us and start building your network!

Meet The Rebels Monday, August 18 6 PM to 8 PM

Even the rain couldn't dampen spirits this morning -- SRO Hay was on umbrella service, making sure Glade Spring Middle School faculty and staff stayed dry on their way inside!

Our newly established Parent Resource Center for families of students with disabilities has our kickoff event, a resource fair, Kickoff to Connection! on September 25th at EO in Abingdon. We have at least 15 confirmed community partners planning to be there for our families. These include: EO Highlands Community Services Communities in Schools Mountain Lynx Transit ETSU Feeding SWVA Kidz at Play Therapy People Inc. PEATC Ascend Benefits Washington County Library DARS DBVI WCPS CTE Center Mrs. Jessica Berry I just wanted to share this information with you in case any of your families ask as we start school next week! I have also included our social media announcement image below in case you use Facebook and would like to share it to help us advertise; it would be greatly appreciated! I am working on some flyers for our families to kick off the year, too. If you have any other ideas or community partners you would like me to reach out to, please let me know!
