The Culinary students did a Mediterranean Halibut with an olive sauce. The fish was flaky and full flavor. Great job everyone!

Culinary recently had a visit from a former graduate. Ryan Tayloe chatted with the students about his career path and demo’d a cheesecake. It was a fun time for all involved. Thank you Ryan!

Washington County Schools will be closed on Wednesday, November 22- Sunday, November 26th.


Students from the WCCTEC were presenters this week at the 4-H Career Fair and Reality Store on November 20-21 at the Higher Education Center. They presented their CTE experience and career goals to 8th graders from Smyth and Washington County Schools.

Criminal Justice I students learned today in class to prep and package clothing for forensic evidence in a manner that would prevent cross contamination according to the guidelines of the Virginia Department of Forensic Science. This method is used as an example for bloodstain patterns or gunshot residue.






Welding students use Miller Welding Augmented Reality Welding Systems to work on different welds. Tim Kilbourne, GO TEC training coordinator for United Way, provided this training for the students in Mr. Marousek's and Mr. McClure's classes.

Carpentry instructor Gene Greer and his students often share their time and talents for projects around the county. Two of their most recent projects were crafting a beautiful podium to be used for Wallace Middle School's Centennial Celebration and working on the Mobile Stem Lab.

Pharmacy Tech PM students are learning about suspensions and how to reconstitute.

Congratulations to Arrow B. for being appointed to serve on Governor Glenn Youngkin's Student Advisory Board. We are proud of him and know that he will represent Washington County Public Schools, and Southwest Virginia very well.

Today, WCCTEC & SkillsUSA Officers held a Veteran's Day Assembly and provided a meal for our local Veterans. Thank you to the Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and all who have served our country. And a special thank you to our guest speaker, Vietnam Veteran Dickie Kiser.
